Well hello dolls! Whew what a year it has been, one minute I’m celebrating being an engaged woman and the next we are locked in doors for the safety of ourselves and others. While I will admit, I have spent a vast majority of this quarantine in my house rocking various pieces of lounge wear, as the country slowly starts to open I had the opportunity to play dress up. This summer I decided to invest in a few nice dresses I could essentially wear on rotation as long as they hit some criteria:
- Vintage without being too kitschy
- Comfortable and easy to wear all day
- Made me feel good and not overly thinking about how my body was looking
All of these criterion were met by the Collectif Dolores 50s Pineapple Toile Dress, and she was on sale! Although there is a wildly outdated idea that plus size women shouldn’t wear white, I love a white dress in Summertime, not least because it’s a cooler.
The Collectif Dolores dress is one of their classic designs that comes in several colourways and patterns. I’ve never been tempted by the Dolores due to the sleeves being technically off shoulder and I am not a strapless bra girl! However, I have found the Dolores also works on the shoulders so I can still wear my good ol’ boulder holder!
The Dolores Pineapple Toile Dress is a wonderful white dress with a blue pineapple print, ruched sweetheart neckline and what I would describe as a slim fit a line dress. It is composed of 97% cotton, 3% elastene so it offers a light summer dress that is also comfortable; honestly if dresses don’t have a slight stretch, they rarely make it into my wardrobe. The dress fastens with a back zip, which really pulls in the waist and creates a truly gorgeous shape.
Although the Dolores 50s Pineapple Toile Dress is sadly sold out now, as I believe it was design from last year, the Dolores dress is an incredibly popular shape and Collectif sell them in many other colourways and patterns. I will certainly be looking to invest in a few more, as a plus size gal when we find something that works, it becomes a repeat visitor-seriously, once I found the perfect pair of jeans, I’ve never bought another style. The Dolores style also comes in a top as well as a fitted and flared dress, so if you like it-branch out!
Until next time my loves, stay safe and stay indoors!
