Why hello dolls, and Happy Easter if you’re celebrating! I have to admit Easter is never a big fuss in my house, it’s no Christmas after all, but I still enjoy getting dressed up and having a nice meal with my family. This year is slightly unusual circumstances, and I am sure a lot of us are wondering what will happen before next Easter, but when the occasion arises to get dressed up who am I to say no?
Now if you know me well I have a tumultuous relationship with Hell Bunny dresses, I swoon over their styles but I sigh over their sizing. However, the Hell Bunny Tiki Treat Pina Colada Dress is a step in the right direction, I found their sizing for this dress was, dare I say, spot on. The Pina Colada dress is a classic black 50s circle dress with a fitted waist and bodice. It is fastened by a back centre zip, and something I particularly love, has elastic shirring panels on the side of the bodice to ensure a perfect fit.
The Pina Colada dress is so called because of the delightful cocktail print all over of fruity fun drinks, that immediately make you feel ready for a Pornstar Martini! (My order, what’s yours?) The sweetheart bodice is slightly ruched which adds a more fitted look to the front of the dress, and if you have bigger boobs like me, is that bit more flattering. Now to the absolutely best part: two giant (and I mean giant) pockets at the side of the dress, honestly when I saw it had pockets I made a gasp of delight. If a dress has pockets, I will be buying it.
It is composed of 98% cotton and 2% elastane, so it is perfect for warmer days as it is a very breathable dress. I found the skirt had enough poof on its own to not need a petticoat but the skirt is just the right length should you desire one. I am wearing the 3XL which is a good fit on my waist but slightly large on the adjustable straps. However, as with all Hell Bunny I would say err on the larger side and adjust as needed; I’ll probably be adding a small stitch in the straps. The dress retails for £53.99, and I bought it through Tiger Milly.
Overall this dress is absolutely gorgeous, it is vintage without being bland, and pinup without being gimmicky. If you’re looking for a quirky cotton summer dress, then this one may be the ticket!
