Whale hello there, hasn’t the weather got much colder recently! I tend to leave the house around 7:00am every morning and believe me when I say the frost has really set in! However, this does mean that coat season is upon us, and for a girl who loves a coat, this fills me with much excitement. I made myself a promise not to buy any more coats this year as I already own about five, but I happened upon the Nicole coat on Voodoo Vixen and well, let’s just say it was fate.
The Nicole Green 40s style coat is a double breasted slight A-line coat in a green herringbone. The coat fastens with two buttons under the bust and a waist popper button with a double label, and two large pockets! The button details do carry on down the coat but they are only functional on the waist. The coat is 95% polyester and 5% wool, so it is very warm and woollen without it being too itchy which is a relief! The coat is fully lined and sits just below the knee as a midi fit; on me it is slightly longer as I am only 5’1 tall.
Onto fit: I bought a 2XL which is roughly an 18-20 (measurements 48-40-50 at the largest end) and while it is slightly too big on the shoulders and waist, I wanted a coat that I could wear jumpers and thicker clothing with, but I absolutely find the arms too long so will need to get those tailored. If you’re a slightly shorter person, this may be something to keep in mind. Voodoo Vixen have both a plus range in sizes 3XL-6XL (sizing has changed since I bought this coat) which is roughly an 18-26. The non-plus range runs from S-XXL which is an 8-16. I find Voodoo Vixen is better in terms of fit when it comes to size, and I find them true to size rather than having to size up.
Overall, I really love this coat, it is perfect for everyday wear and can be both dressed up and dressed down; while I probably wouldn’t style with jeans, with dresses it is perfectly complimented. The green is a perfect Autumnal colour, as it errs on the side of darker green, and for these frosty mornings it is perfect! The Nicole Green 40s style coat retails for £93.00 and is available from the Voodoo Vixen website.
